Capsule Geology

The western half of the HGP (Hanging Glacier) zone is dominated by several early Jurassic intrusions (monzonite to syenite), hosted by Upper Triassic Stuhini Group fine-grained clastic rocks. The eastern side is dominated by Lower Hazelton Group dark grey fine-grained clastic rocks, typically siltstone and mudstone, with lesser sandstone and rare conglomerates. The intrusive and sedimentary units are cut by east trending and north trending mafic dikes.

In 2015, Three holes were collared in the HGP zone, targeting surface observations of copper-molybdenum porphyry-style mineralization (SU-667), and gold-silver epithermal-style mineralization (SU-669 and 670). A total of 987.33 metres were drilled. The first hole drilled at HGP Zone targeted copper molybdenum porphyry-style mineralization, which is observed as malachite staining and chalcopyrite plus/minus molybdenite blebs in sub-centimetre quartz veins and veinlets in the intrusive rocks on surface. The second hole, SU-669, intersected a number of significant gold-silver intervals, with the highlight a 32.9 grams per tonne gold sample over 1.2 metres at 88.8 metres depth (Assessment Report 36214). The only mineralization observed over these intervals was blebs of pyrite (1 to 5 per cent), moderate to strong silica alteration, and less than 5 per cent millimetre scale quartz-calcite veining.

Refer to West (104B 193) for details of related mineralization and an up-to-date common work history relating to the Brucejack project of Pretium Resources, which encompasses the Hanging Glacier zone.
